Hill College Head Softball Coach Leigh Ebner has been selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 5 women’s director.

“Leigh Ebner is an outstanding individual to lead Region 5 women’s athletics. She is very dedicated and organized to represent Region 5 and will oversee all women’s Regional Tournaments. She will also represent Region 5 at the national level,” said Rex Parcells, Hill College vice president of instruction and current NJCAA Region 5 women’s director.

Ebner is in her 15th season as the head coach of the Lady Rebels’ softball program. Her teams in the past have been well-rounded; performing well not only on the field, but also in the classroom. Every team since 2007 has been named an All-Academic team.

“I believe in the opportunities community colleges present student-athletes on and off the field,” said Ebner. “I’m excited for this new role, and to represent Hill College and all of Region 5.”

Ebner’s playing experience dates back to 1996, when she pitched for Ranger College while earning her associate’s degree. From there, she moved to Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla., where she pitched for two more years.

She earned her bachelor’s of science degree and received her master’s degree in education from Tarleton State University. Prior to her tenure at Hill, Ebner spent five years as the head coach at Ranger College.
